What's up, you lot?!
So, as we're nearing the release of my new album Show Must Go On, I figured I would give you an update on what's going on right now.
The midi-keyboard likes to be touched from time to time
As some of you may know, in the last 2 years, I've been dabbling more on the production side of things. At the end of 2016, I decided to buy myself a little midi keyboard to toy around with. My original intention was to use it for live freestyle videos. I was going to program some drums - live on camera - and then rap to the newly made drum pattern. I figured this would give the videos something fresh, since it would all be one take.
Needless to say, it didn't take long before I was producing beats again after what had been a few years away from it. I've always kind of dabbled in music production but I never really liked any of my own beats. In 2017, as I was wrapping up We're All Gonna Die!, I began toying with different sounds but nothing I'd actually use. Then, I kinda got the beat-making bug and started producing more. A lot of the encouragement came from Sinima. He gave me some really great advice so, I credit the progress I've made in the last year to his support alone. I'm now at a point where I LOVE what I'm producing!
I say all this to say...
Show Must Go On will be the last album that will feature production from other producers. I want to produce everything. It's more so out of necessity than anything. It's not cheap funding an album and it's not easy too. You have to rely on others for your beats. You have to find the right beats, the right sound. The quality has to be good. You have to make sure the beats don't contain samples that will cause you legal problems later on down the line... god, I hope some of them old songs don't come back to bite me on the arse later.
I bought myself a green screen + a lighting system :-)
I'm also working on a lot of video content behind the scenes. I've said before that I'm not really someone who cares if they're relevant or not. In this social media age, you have to be online at all times or you get forgotten. You get left behind and buried amongst cat videos and Shaggy memes.
But I will be releasing new videos soon. I just have a lot on my plate right now. I always think, I'll just work hard on the content and if anyone's left when it gets released, maybe they'll like it. If nobody's around, fuck it, at least the content was made.
I wanna thank everyone that has pre-ordered Show Must Go On. This album took a lot out of me and I'm looking forward to you hearing it. This week, I finished the final mixes and I've mastered the entire album now. It's currently being sent out to all the digital stores such as Spotify, iTunes etc. So expect it to be available on April Fools Day - no delays!!!
Everyone that has pre-ordered through Krafty.com will get it earlier. That's what a pre-order is for, right?? If you haven't pre-ordered YOURS, feel free to do so now. Ya don't wanna miss the show! ;-)
Thank you again and I'll report back again soon (when I have something worthwhile to say)
Peace & Love
